what mattered to the client
  • to create a translational research environment by co-locating Pediatric Clinic and basic pediatric research and support laboratories in order to encourage greater cross-disciplinary collaboration; attract and retain the best researchers and clinicians; make the most efficient use of resources; enhance direct connection between researchers and patients whose lives are affected
  • to communicate the stature of the University’s pediatrics program with a building whose architectural character reflected the vocabulary of the iconic Emory campus
  • to achieve fast-track design and construction, utilizing LEED™ principles
outcomes-based design RESULTS
  • Lower level is dedicated to clinic space and combines the best of patient-centered amenities, security and privacy.
  • Research functions are located on upper levels, out of patient view. Researchers have access to consultation areas on the clinic floor.
  • Design fosters mingling of research and clinical personnel, with opportunities for each to provide a different perspective on the same problem.
  • Project was completed in 18 months, from programming through construction; and achieved LEED™ certification.
