Structural Engineering Student Intern

Glastonbury, CT

While working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, the Structural Engineering Student Intern will perform assignments under the direct supervision of Structural Engineering professionals in the Glastonbury, CT (Hartford) office.

As a Structural Engineering Student Intern you will assist experienced Structural Engineers on a variety of tasks which may include; contractor submitted shop fabrication drawing review; assisting with the preparation of contract documents in a BIM environment (including creating or updating structural drawings and specifications); attending in-person or online coordination meetings with Owners/Architects/Sub-Consultants, learning how building codes and material codes are applied to the structural design of the project, performing structural calculations on specific design tasks (gravity member framing, building lateral force resisting system analysis, foundations); computer modeling of structures for analysis and design (with training assistance); and assisting an experienced Structural Engineer during a construction site visit or an investigation of an existing building. Some company paid travel to project construction sites/project coordination meetings may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must have completed basic Structural Engineering oriented courses such as Structural Steel Design, Reinforced Concrete Design, a first course in Structural Analysis, Foundation Design and/or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Additional structural engineering design/analysis classes preferred.
• Experience with Engineering documents (reading plans, specifications, report writing) a plus!
• Prior use of Autodesk Revit and engineering analysis/design software a plus!
