Glastonbury, CT, December 6, 2022 – SLAM (The S/L/A/M Collaborative)is pleased to announce the promotion of two individuals: Rick Herzer, AIA, LEED AP to Managing Principal of Design and Director of Sustainability and Robert Zygmunt, PE to Principal and Shareholder. Additional promotions within the firm include sixteen staff to Senior Associate and thirteen staff to Associate.
Rick Herzer, AIA, LEED AP, a resident of Glastonbury, CT, has been with the firm for over 35 years and oversees the coordination of all design issues between the client and design team. Rick joins the Firm Core Team as Managing Principal of Design & Director of Sustainability. Rick’s hallmark is inventive design that elevates the building program, space and the human experience through creative solutions. His passion for computer technology has led the firm to improvements in project delivery, elevating the conversations around building technology and sustainability. Rick’s experience includes work across multiple markets on some of SLAM’s most notable and award-winning buildings. His work has received widespread recognition including high honors from AIA, American Council of Engineering Companies, IIDA New England, Connecticut Real Estate Exchange and Connecticut Green Building Council.
Robert Zygmunt, PE, a resident of Glastonbury, CT, joined SLAM in 2007 and serves as the lead structural engineer for many of SLAM’s complex university projects. His innovative solutions have contributed to many award recognitions, including Palladio, AIA and ENR. Bob is a registered engineer in the state of Connecticut, Rhode Island and Georgia. He has served on the board for the Structural Engineers Association Connecticut chapter (SEAConn) and is a member of the National Council of Structural Engineering Associations (NCSEA). Bob also is a committee member on the NCSEA and appointed Chairperson for SEAConn’s Structural Licensure Committee, leading a local effort in Connecticut to establish a structural engineering licensure bill. He also is the Connecticut’s ambassador for the NCSEA Structural Engineer’s branding initiative. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Connecticut.
