Glastonbury, CT., January 27, 2021 – The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM) is pleased to announce the promotion of Catherine “Cathie” J. Ellithorpe, AIA to Principal. Cathie, based in the firm’s Glastonbury, Connecticut office, joined SLAM in 1994, and has developed an expertise in the public education and corporate sectors. A member of the Professional Women in Construction, Connecticut Chapter, Cathie has recently received the 2021 Woman of Achievement Award.

Hathaway Dinwiddie / HED / SLAM begin construction on UC Irvine’s new College of Health Sciences Complex

November 10, 2020, Irvine, Calif. — Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company, architecture and engineering firm HED, and architecture firm The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM) announce that construction is under way on a landmark, nine-acre health sciences complex at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), that promises to be a national showcase for integrative health patient care, training and research. Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company is an ENR top-ranking design builder.

SLAM names five new principals

GLASTONBURY, Conn., October 20, 2020 – The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM) has recently named five new principals located in our Atlanta, GA, Denver, CO, Iowa City, IA, Orlando, FL, and Philadelphia, PA offices. On March 6, 2020, SLAM completed the acquisition of five CBRE I Heery architectural design practices focused on healthcare, sports facilities and justice, adding to the firms existing education, corporate, healthcare and sports/recreation practices. These five new Principals, and approximately 70 Heery employees, joined SLAM’s team of 210 professionals.

SLAM on schedule to complete Kent School Admissions Building renovation, new addition

Glastonbury, Conn., July 15, 2020 – In Spring, 2020, the renovation and addition to the Kent School Admissions Building marked the 17th shovel in the ground for The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM) design and construction team on the Kent School campus, a private, co-educational preparatory school located in bucolic north western Connecticut.

SLAM and Trinity College partner on new Hartford Innovation Center

HARTFORD, Conn., June 2, 2020 – The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM) is proud to announce the successful completion of Trinity College’s new Innovation Center at One Constitution Plaza in downtown Hartford, Connecticut, across from the school’s Liberal Arts Action Lab. SLAM’s design-build team partnered with the College to help envision a space for boundary-crossing collaboration and creativity, and home to the academic/corporate partnership with InfoSys, a Digital Health CT accelerator, and new innovation and entrepreneurship programs for students.

SLAM completes fitness center renovations at The Gunnery

Glastonbury, Conn., May 12, 2020 – The S/L/A/M Collaborative and Construction Services (SLAM) is proud to announce the successful completion of a new fitness space, the Emerson Fitness Center, for The Gunnery, a co-ed boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12 located in Washington, Connecticut.

DCAMM, SLAM & Gilbane Completes COVID-19 Quarantine for homeless in Newton Pavilion

BOSTON, Mass. – April 15, 2020 – The S/L/A/M Collaborative, Boston Studio (SLAM) and Gilbane Building Company (Gilbane), in partnership with the Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management & Maintenance (DCAMM), Boston Medical Center (BMC), Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, the Department of Public Health, led the technical planning, design and construction of a temporary quarantine shelter in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
