SLAM’s national landscape architecture & planning practice welcomes new talent

GLASTONBURY, CT, February 9, 2022 – The Landscape Architecture and Planning practice of SLAM (The S/L/A/M Collaborative) welcomes the addition of Cynthia “Cyndy” Reynolds, ASLA, landscape architect, Keith Whipple, PLA, landscape practice leader – Orlando, and Henry Withers, ASLA, senior landscape architect, to the firm, supporting national initiatives for the education, healthcare, corporate, sports and justice practices. Cyndy and Henry are based in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and Keith joins the Orlando, Florida office.

“Cyndy, Henry and Keith each bring unique and extensive experience in project leadership and the ability to craft exceptional and imaginative landscape solutions for diverse markets,” says Daniel Granniss, ASLA, SLAM principal and studio leader, Landscape Architecture & Planning. “I’m excited for our current and future clients to work with these professionals, whose work will leave a positive and lasting experience.”

Cynthia “Cyndy” Reynolds, ASLA, is a landscape architect responsible for development design and documentation of projects, including support of business development initiatives focused on the independent education market. She brings more than 10 years of experience supporting multidisciplinary teams in corporate, municipal, and residential landscape architecture, where she applied her management, design, and technical skills to projects.  She holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Connecticut and is currently a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Cyndy looks forward to expanding her technical skill set and ability to integrate and overlay systems in sustainable and universally accessible design strategies that will ultimately enhance the vision of a client’s landscape.

Keith Whipple, PLA, is landscape practice leader for the Orlando office of SLAM.  Keith will leverage his recognized creativity and high degree of technical skill to provide a full scope of services from planning, design and illustration to the implementation and delivery of complex and detailed developments. His focus, working with his engineering colleagues, is to integrate landscape architecture and civil engineering into a holistically managed site planning and design studio, bringing seamless integration of both the art and science of designing sites and outdoor spaces to our clients.

With more than 25 years of experience as a licensed landscape architect, Keith will continue his focus on planning and design of theme parks and themed experiences, continuing to work with past clients such as Walt Disney Imagineering, while adding new commercial developments throughout central Florida.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly in Pomona, California and is skilled in AutoCAD and Civil3D, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, and other graphic, 3D modeling, and presentation software. Keith also enjoys bringing his drawing and sketching capabilities to a project.

Henry Withers, ASLA, senior landscape architect, brings a successful career in the management of landscape architectural design and planning services, from inception through construction contract documentation. His focus at SLAM is on site planning, landscape architectural design services, as well as managing the regulatory requirements and permitting, LID / LEED compliance as well as bidding and construction administration for corporate, educational, and municipal clients. Henry is currently managing services for the firm’s educational clients, Baylor College of Medicine, Torrington Middle/High School, and the University of Connecticut – Hartford Campus.

Prior to SLAM, his work has included the award-winning Litchfield Judicial District Courthouse in Torrington, CT, earning the 2018 Justice Facilities Review Highest Honor AIA’ Academy of Architecture for Justice and the Rogers International Baccalaureate Environmental Magnet School in Stamford, CT, receiving the 2010 CREW CT Blue Ribbon Award for Best Sustainable Design Project.

Henry is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia School of Architecture. He has written on the topic of landscape architecture, as a co-author of “An Inland Wetland Commissioner’s Guide to Site Plan Review,” receiving an ASLA Merit Award, and contributed graphics and design work for publication in “Perspectives Sketches,” 4th ed. by Theodore D. Walker.  In his spare time, Henry may be found playing his guitar for the band, Temporary Sanity, across Connecticut and New England, often performing to raise funds for various causes.
