Great people work at SLAM, entirely by design.
At SLAM, we believe great design starts with great people. Our team of over 275 professionals is driven by curiosity, creativity, and collaboration—helping to shape the spaces where innovation, learning, healing, and community all thrive.

Our diverse team brings unique perspectives and expertise to our integrated architecture, engineering, and construction solutions. Working in the higher education, k-12, healthcare, corporate, justice and sports markets across our nine offices nationwide, SLAM fosters an environment where talent flourishes, ideas are celebrated, and careers are built to last.
We think of ourselves as one team—a collective group of people and personalities that form a high-functioning, driven architecture firm.
As individuals, however, each of us is unique, all hailing from different backgrounds, experiences, and talents. Learn more about the people who make SLAM the dynamic workplace that it is in our rotating spotlight below.

It’s what we do. For the greater good.
SLAM is made up of many individuals who share a similar principle – that delivering great work transcends what we do for our clients each day. This value requires being open-minded and dedicated to serving others in the communities where we live and work. In the same way, how we welcome, support, and collaborate with one another reflects who we are and the strength of our culture and community. By aiming to create a workplace environment where people feel valued, seen, and respected, we focus on amplifying voices, encouraging engagement, and fostering connection – all while remaining committed to continually strengthening our culture, supporting our people, and nurturing a sense of community that positively impacts our offices and the places we call home.
With all our hearts, we work hard.
SLAM is dedicated to making a difference through community outreach, pro bono work, and industry mentorship. Our pro bono program provides design expertise to organizations in need, supporting projects like City of Refuge in Atlanta and St. Vincent de Paul Place in Connecticut. We also give back through hands-on efforts, including Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, American Heart Association Heart Walk and local MLK Day of Service initiatives. Through initiatives like ACE Mentor Program of America, Boys & Girls Clubs, and the Kyle C. Slocum Memorial Scholarship for landscape architecture students, we proudly invest in the next generation. These efforts reflect our commitment to social responsibility and the need for lifting our communities.
Where growth meets guidance.
Our mentoring program is specifically designed to facilitate professional growth, collaboration, and knowledge sharing at all levels of the firm. With a flexible, mentee-driven approach, people can connect with mentors based on their evolving needs. Whether for career development, technical skills, leadership guidance, or work-life balance, studio silos are removed, and meaningful relationships are encouraged. This strengthens our ‘One SLAM’ culture while supporting individual career paths within a dynamic and inclusive environment.
A work in progress needs a place to progress.
The SLAM Internship Program offers students a 10–12-week experience designed to immerse them in real-world design projects. Throughout the program, interns participate in weekly meetings that encourage learning and interaction. These sessions cover a broad range of topics, including the design process, software tools, and insights from full-time employees. Here, your questions are answered, and you’ll also learn how to present your work effectively. To ensure a supportive experience, we assign a dedicated coordinator who provides guidance, organizes site visits, and arranges portfolio reviews. While much of the internship is project-focused, the program also emphasizes professional growth and the building of meaningful social connections.
