Accounts Payable Specialist

SLAM has an opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our firm at our office in Glastonbury, CT. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will bring a high level of reliability, precision, and attention to detail along with an ability to work closely with management and fellow employees in the daily processing of accounts payable in a multi-company environment.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Set up new vendors in Deltek Vantagepoint including assigning the appropriate default expense code, obtaining W-9s and identifying 1099 required vendors.
  • Upload consultant and vendor invoices into PAT and assign appropriate company and expense codes including appropriate recording of sales tax as needed. Route invoices to the appropriate parties for review and approval.
  • Upload approved invoices into Vantagepoint for posting to the accounts payable and general ledger accounts.
  • Process weekly check runs for both consultants and vendors to Corpay via Vantagepoint.
  •  Respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process, including processing invoices for payment and assisting with bank reconciliations.
  • Research information to provide accurate and timely solutions to internal clients and vendors at multiple locations.
  • Inspect paid and unpaid invoices including cleared payment inquiries and check voiding to maintain accurate files and records according to company standards.
  • Maintain the filing system for financial information, records, and documents to ensure easily available information.
  • Weekly posting of employee expense reports, and bi-weekly payment processing of employee expenses.
  • Process check requests as needed.
  • Assist with credit card reconciliation as needed.

Key Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • Associate degree in accounting and/or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and work ethics.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
