This senior level open position presents an opportunity for an Interior Designer to join the Glastonbury, CT office of SLAM, a growing national firm of 275+ employees with additional offices in Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Iowa City, Los Angeles, Orlando, Providence, and Philadelphia. This position represents an opportunity for the right candidate to grow with the firm and help to build our practice as a member of our well-established firm-wide Interior Design studio.
Overview of Job Description:
- 15+ years of experience working as an interior designer in the corporate and/or higher education markets
- Provide exceptional design capabilities and produce high quality, innovative, functional, and aesthetically driven work that aligns with the firm’s core values
- Experience with the architectural design process and integration of all aspects of interior design, including programming, planning, conceptual design, design development, construction documents, construction administration, and overall project execution
- Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent listening, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of an effective team, with a strong emphasis on leadership within the various team dynamics
- Self-starter, responsible, organized, highly motivated, detail orientated, problem-solver, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience managing project budgets and schedules
- Experience leading a team in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design problems, while directing, organizing, and mentoring junior team members with oversight of their activities
- Strong knowledge of FF&E, space planning, manufacturers/dealers, specification writing, procurement processes, and project management for this scope of work
- Ability to lead clients and successfully work with project teams on all project phases, from planning and initial interior design concepts through construction
- Contribute to the growth, development, and success of interiors studio across multiple offices
- Ability to travel to project sites and attend client meetings as needed
- Proficient in Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, and other 3D visualization tools/programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Power Point, and InDesign)
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design with NCIDQ Certification or in architecture with focus on interior architecture/interior design
- WELL AP, LEED Certified, preferred but not required
Firm-wide Interiors Studio Interface:
- Close collaboration with firm-wide Interior Design studio to ensure consistent processes, share experiences, promote learning opportunities, manage resources, and coordinate overall initiatives
Business Development:
- Lead and/or contribute to proposal development
- Work with market leadership to pursue prospective clients and opportunities
- Participate in project team interviews, as appropriate
- Active participation in local professional organizations
