Football Locker Room Renovation

the story

To deliver Georgia Tech’s standard of technology, excellence, and innovation, SLAM was selected for the renovation of the existing football locker room located in the North End Zone of historic Bobby Dodd Stadium. The 10,400-SF renovation includes recruiting enhancements with new branded/ventilated lockers, an eye-catching “GT” logo across the ceiling, sleek interior finishes, adjustable lighting, upgraded MEP/FP systems, as well as new restrooms and showers.

The main drivers behind the renovation project were to establish a new standard of recruiting excellence, provide an activated space to promote student-athlete recovery, and deliver Georgia Tech’s fresh brand.

SOLUTION

The trademark GT hexagonal pattern is expressed throughout the design to tie in the lockers, ceiling feature, graphics, and finishes into a cohesive and consistent branding element.

Digital displays, dual-charging stations, self-healing finishes, lockable storage, and jumbo-sized exhaust systems are incorporated in each individual locker.

A unique focal point within the locker room is the new hydrotherapy center featuring two new in-ground, custom plunge pools. The 4-foot-6-inch cold pool operates as a walk-thru plunge pool with bench seating along one side. The 4-foot hot pool operates as a deep plunge pool with wrap-around bench seating. Adjacent to the plunge pools is a fully immersive rain shower, allowing players to rinse off prior to entering the pool.

IMPACT

The Yellow Jackets’ 15-year-old locker room has been transformed into one of college football’s most state-of-the-art sports dressing spaces.  The redesigned space generates eye candy, as well as functionality for Georgia Tech’s combined gameday and everyday locker room. The renovation incorporates the latest technology upgrades to further drive the Georgia Tech vision.

“

The locker room is one of the areas where football student-athletes spend most of their time, so this upgrade will not only benefit our current student-athletes, but is also a big part of our efforts to enhance our football recruiting.
