Giving Back Has Multiple Meanings to SLAM

We participate in a wide range of civic activities including, but not limited to Relay for Life, Susan G. Komen, CANstruction, Habitat for Humanity, Park(ing) Day, Park Pride, and Food Share.  We also remember our colleagues through architectural scholarships—the Kyle C. Slocum Memorial and David Labau Memorial.

Equally rewarding is our participation in groups that directly engage our team and advance the architectural design and construction profession.  Memberships, pro bono work, public speaking engagements on campuses and at seminars/conferences, promote a greater understanding of the profession, our ideals and the opportunity to learn more about client concerns, societal trends, and industry drivers.

KYLE C. SLOCUM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:

SLAM established the Kyle C. Slocum Memorial Scholarship in 2015, in conjunction with the University of Connecticut. A former principal and leader of SLAM’s Landscape Architecture Studio, and a leader within the CTASLA community, we remember Kyle’s passion for the profession and commitment to the mentorship of young professionals. The scholarship is awarded annually in April to a fourth-year Landscape Architecture student at UConn and consists of a stipend in the amount of $4,500 along with a six-week internship at SLAM.
