the story
Located in the heart of one of Florida’s fastest-growing counties, the Government Center emerges as a beacon of accessible municipal services for a rapidly expanding region. The 30-acre site was master planned as a new public campus guided by the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), creating a safe, welcoming environment that reduces victimization and deters criminal activity. The Center establishes an initial organizational framework that fosters collaboration among County stakeholders, serves surrounding growing communities, and anticipates future facility expansion. As a consultant to Straughn Trout (now part of Grace Hebert Curtis Architects) SLAM led the programming, planning, and design of the Courthouse/Government Center, including the detailed planning and layout of courtrooms, judges’ chambers, security and specialty spaces, office fit-outs, and the development of custom casework designs.
